MAINTENANCE DREDGING FOR THE FREEPORT OF MONROVIA, LBERIA

This project was aimed at increasing the depth and width of the Freeport of Monrovia access channel to allow for bigger commercial vessels coming into the port. The scope of the works was to survey the entire channel and basin of the port and pending the results of this Predredge survey, hydraulically remove sand and silt from the access channel and the basin areas of the port.
Upon completion of the project, an approximate volume of 300,000 m3 of sand and silt was dredged to allow for ease of movement of vessels in and out of the port. Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors b.v. were subcontracted by Dredge Masters Limited in the execution of this maintenance dredging project.
